The Operation Theatre Technician certification will provide thorough knowledge regarding working in operation theatre along with miscellaneous topics like Infection control, Bio medical waste management etc. Students will be able to prepare the operation theatre, assisting surgeons and nurses in various procedure before, during and after surgery. Instructional methods are varied including classrooms and labs. Individual will also be responsible for maintaining equipment, sterilization and personal hygiene.

Description

 1 To assist in preparing the room for surgery 

2 Responsible for having surgical equipment, and other equipment ready for the operation. 

3. To assist doctors by handing them needed instruments during surgery and for supply of equipment’s and readiness of equipment’s and supply of drugs to Anesthetist. 

4 Transferring patient after operations to the recovery room and ensure safe transfer of patient from operating room to ward or other unit. 

5 Assist anesthesia providers using aseptic or sterile technique with non-invasive and invasive patient procedures including peripheral and/or central intravenous and/ or arterial line placement.

6 Assist anesthesia providers with physiological monitoring of patient notifying the anesthesia providers of abnormal changes in vital signs and/or physical appearance of the patient. 

7 Clean anesthesia machine, monitors and equipment flowing procedure established by infection control 

8 Assist with patient laboratory tests and results including but not limited to ABG’s, ACTs and other point of care testes 

9 Obtain blood products and pharmaceuticals assisting with preparation and delivery. 

10 Maintain immediate availability to assist in routine and emergency procedures 

11 Keep abreast of the progress of and knowledge to maintain the highest standard of professional competence. 

12 Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital management to comply those requirements 

13 Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities 

14 Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures 

15 Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports 

16 Comply with Waste management procedures and policies 

17 Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs 

18 Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems 

MIN QUALIFICATION :- 10TH (SSC) & ABOVE 

CERTIFICATION FROM :-  B.S.S/ N.C.V.T.E/ N.S.D.C

COURSE DURATION :- 1 YEARS

CAREER GROWTH - O.T TECHNICIAN

The job prospects for certified Operation Theatre Technicians look quite challenging. After the completion of the course, you start your career as a Junior Operation Theatre Technician after which you move on to becoming Operation Theatre Technician and finally to Senior Operation Theatre Technician.
